India Nepal tour - itinerary
Day 01 Delhi
Arrive at Delhi airport, meet Alpine Eco Trek’s representative and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 02 Delhi
A full day sightseeing to New/old Delhi, Morning visit Qutub Minar built by Qutub-ud-Din Aibek in 1199, Humayun's Tomb, India Gate (War Memorial Arch), and Lakshminarayan Temple - a modern Hindu Temple. Also drive past President's House, Parliament House, Government Secretariat Buildings and Connaught Place shopping centre.
Afternoon visit Raj Ghat and Shanti Vana - the cremation sites of Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru, Jama Masjid, Red Fort and drive past Chandni Chowk.
Day 03 Delhi / Ajmer / Pushkar
Transfer to railway station to connect train to Ajmer. On arrival, assistance and later drive to Pushkar and check in at hotel. Afternoon visit Pushkar known for the pious lake and the famous Brahma temple.
Day 04 Pushkar / Jaipur
Drive to Jaipur and check in at hotel. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 05 Jaipur
Morning visit Amer Fort which was the ancient capital of the State. Visit the Sheesh Mahal or the Hall of Victory glittering with mirrors. Ascend the Fort on Elephant back.
Afternoon visit the city - the capital of Rajasthan was given a colour coat of pink a century ago in honour of a visiting Prince and ever since, it has retained this colour. Built by Maharaja Jai Singh, the notable astronomer, this city is 260 years old. Visit Maharaja's City Palace, the Observatory & Ram Niwas Gardens. Drive past Hawa Mahal & through the pink rose residential & business areas.
Day 06 Jaipur / Agra
Drive to Agra enroute visiting Fatehpur Sikri - it is 40 kms from Agra and built by Emperor Akbar in 1569 and abandoned after 15 years due to scarcity of water. See the graceful buildings including the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisti, Panch Mahal and other Palaces. Afternoon free.
Day 07 Agra
Full day visits - visit the world famous Taj Mahal built by the Moghul Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his Queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains (Taj Mahal remains closed on Fridays). Later visit the Agra Fort containing the Pearl Mosque, the Halls of Public and Private Audience. Also visit the Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daullah built by Empress Noorjehan in memory of her father.
Day 08 Agra / Jhansi / Khajuraho
Transfer to railway station to connect train for Jhansi. On arrival, assistance and later drive to Khajuraho enroute visiting Orchaa which boasts of its palaces and temples built by its Bundela rulers in the 16th and 17th century. Jehangir Mahal, a tiered palace crowned by graceful chhatris has a spectacular view of soaring temple spires and cenotaphs. On arrival, check in at hotel.
Day 09 Khajuraho
Morning visit Eastern & Western group of temples. The world famous Khajuraho temples were built by the Chandela kings between 950 AD and 1050 AD. The most important are the Chaunset Yogini Temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, The Mahadev Temple, Chitragupta or Bharatji Temple with a lovely image of 11 headed Vishnu, Vishvanath and Nandi Temples, Lakshmana Temple, Visha Temple of Shiva, which is the largest & most typical of temples. Visit the Eastern group of temples that consist of the Parasvanath Temple - the only Jain Temple surviving at Khajuraho and has excellent sculptures on the outer walls of the Sanctum, the Javeri Temple dedicated to Vishnu. The other temples in this group are those dedicated to Brahma, Yamuna and Adinath.
Day 10 Khajuraho / Varanasi
Transfer to airport to connect flight for Varanasi - the religious capital of Hindus since times immemorial and a place of devotion and worship with hundreds of temples doting the city. On arrival, assistance and transfer to hotel.
Day 11 Varanasi
Early morning boat excursion on the river Ganges, a ferry pilgrimage from ghat to ghat. People bathe early in the morning to offer the prayers to the rising sun. The two cremation ghats are Manikarnika & Harishchandra where funeral pyre burns day and night. Every pious Hindu believes that to die in Kashi and to be cremated on banks of the Ganges is to attain release from the cycle of birth and death
Morning city and temple tour - visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple - the most sacred shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva, New Vishwanath Temple - with the whole Gita engraved on its marble walls, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Mandir - with text of Ram Charit Manas engraved on its walls, Vinayaka Temples - devoted to Lord Ganesh, Annapoorna Temple, Kal Bhairav Temple, Jateshwar Mahadev Temple, Maha Mritunjiya Temple and Bharat Mata Temple. Afternoon free.
Day 12 Varanasi / Kathmandu
Transfer airport to fly Kathmandu, Nepal (top of the world). On arrival, one of Alpine Eco Trek’s tour leaders will greet you and transfer to hotel. Overnight at hotel.
Day 13 Kathmandu
Morning breakfast, visit Bodhnath, Pashpatinath and Bhadgaon. Bhadgaon is a Newar city of 9th century. Visit the ancient gateway, Durbar Square, royal residential quarter of Bhupendra Malla, temple of Nytapole in pagoda style and other temples. Bodhnath - visit the temple of Bodhnath, the colossal 2500 years old Stupa, one of the largest in the world. This Stupa has the all seeing-eyes of the Buddha by king Mana Deva in expiation of his sins of the advice inset with prayer wheels.
Also visit the Pashupatinath Temple which is noted for its erotic woodcarvings of the struts.
Day 14 Kathmandu
Morning city and Swaymbhunath tour - visit the Durbar Square, Hanuman Dhoka, the ancient royal residential quarter, Mahadev and Parvati Temple and other temples. Also visit Swayambhunath, the 2000 years old site with 5 dhyani Buddhas enshrined at the base of the Stupa.
Afternoon visit Patan - visit the Old Newar City - the historic Durbar Square, see the Golden Gate, the sky piercing temple of Teleju and the statue of Yogendra Malla, other temples and old windows and carved balconies of wood, curio shops and bazaars.
Day 15 Fly back home or extend your holidays in Nepal:
Breakfast, transfer to airport, fly home or extend your great to trekking in Nepal, jungle safari in Nepal, rafting in Nepal and many more adventure trips including one Mountain flight to Mt. Everest (top of the world.)
