Speaking of, a large part of the overall enjoyment factor of the trekking experience depends upon the weather and climatic condition, needless to say. That is why choosing the right time for trekking to the Everest Base Camp is as crucial as any other part of the journey.
Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in October
The month of October is among the most suitable months for trekking to the Everest Base Camp. With clear skies and almost perfect weather, October presents the best conditions for trekking. Most of October is a conundrum of deep blue skies overhead with the cool breeze blowing through the troughs of the river valleys.
The average daytime temperature during October can reach as high as 14˚ to 15˚ C. When the skies clear away, giving way to strong sunshine, the temperatures can also reach about 20 to 21 C. At sundown, the temperatures can drop down to about -6˚ to -5˚ C. Cold mornings before sunrise can experience average temperatures of about -10˚ to -9˚ C in elevations above 4,000 meters. Also, October is when the celebration of the biggest festivals in Nepal- Dashain and Tihar, takes place.
Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in November
The month of November presents the last remnants of autumn as the weather slowly starts to creep toward the frozen shimmers of winter. November also presents the best weather and climatic conditions for trekking.
The average temperature during November while trekking remains at a range of about 18 to 25 C during the day, while dropping down to about 7 to 8 C at nighttime. Much like in October, the clouds remain clear and the sun shines strongly during the day.
However, as the month wears on, the clouds do appear and the average temperatures start to drop. During the last days of the month, the average temperatures can drop down to about 12 C in the daytime. During November, the temperature can be generalized as such- every 1,000 meters of elevation gain can lead to a drop in about 2 C of temperature.
Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in December
Mid-December is when the fall fully changes into winter. Despite that, the Everest Base Camp Trek during December is still a doable and preferred aspect. The initial few weeks of December are much like November, but the latter half of the month experiences below-zero temperatures.

During the daytime, December generally experiences average daytime temperatures at around the range of 20 C, while it drops down to about -12 to -14 at nighttime.
Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in January
The month of January is perhaps the most peaceful trekking month of all. Winter tends to be in full front in the mountains during January, with freezing temperatures. Yet the clear Mountain View because of the low rainfall makes the trip have perks despite the cold atmosphere.
Because of the low precipitation rate, the weather during January is generally dry and cold. Nevertheless, the weather does change dramatically with the rising and setting of the sun. During the day, the shining sun makes the terrain warmer, with average daytime temperatures ranging from around 4 to 6 C. At night-time, however, the temperatures drop down to extremes, ranging at about -17 to -20 C.
Moreover, occasional snowfall might also occur at higher elevations, varying from heavy to light. At elevations above 4,000 meters, heavy snowfall can also sometimes obstruct the pathways. That is why Treks with pathways that cross mountain passes are not recommended during January. Neither are treks that involve the Himalayan lakes like Gokyo because the water bodies freeze over due to the cold temperatures.
Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in February
The month of February is like a metaphorical doorway that leaves the winter behind and allows the metamorphosis to occur with the coming of spring. During this transformative month, the EBC Trek experiences some mixed weather and temperature conditions. A rather neutral month in terms of the weather and temperature, February experiences no high temperatures during the day with no extremely freezing temperatures at nighttime either, although they do remain rather cold.
One of the best advantages of trekking during February is that the month presents unparalleled views of the ivory mountain peaks. Due to the less amount of rainfall, the Himalayan sights are presented most spectacularly.
The daytime temperature during February in the mountains hovers at around a range of about -8 to 2 C during the day, with fluctuation. The nighttime temperature ranges from -0.6 to -05, varying from high to low altitudes.

Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in May
The month of May is the last month of spring in Nepal before the beginning of the monsoon. May weather in the Everest Himalayas and the Khumbu valley experiences the melting of ice and glacial sludge during the afternoons when the sun is shining the brightest as the daytime temperatures remain above the freezing point with hardly any rain.
Views of the peaks remain clear, but the late weeks of May start experiencing light rain showers, with the end of the month fully transitioning into the summer monsoons. The daytime temperature generally reaches as high as 15 to 17 C, with nighttime temperatures dropping to about 0 C. Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in June
The month of June is the beginning of the monsoon season in Nepal. The warm teases of the summer started in the first few weeks of the month, with the mid-weeks becoming quite hot during the day. The average temperatures also become higher, and the days become humid with constant summer showers.
Daytime average temperatures during June at the Everest Base Camp Trek reach as high as 16 to 18 C while dropping down to about -1 C at nighttime. The downpour does tend to fluctuate the overall temperature though. In the Himalayas and the foothills of the peaks, the altitude also generally affects the annual rainfall pattern. The annual rainfall increases as the elevation increases, to a maximum elevation of about 3,000 meters. After this elevation, the rainfall then starts to decrease again.
Lower Himalayan foothills in the Khumbu experience more than 70 percent of annual precipitation. The pattern that generally follows is rainfall throughout the night, with the dawn bringing somewhat clear skies. However, this cannot be a determinant as the weather and rainfall patterns can change.
Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in July
Mid-June and the entire month of July experienced the full wrath of constant thunderstorms and rain showers. However, despite the constant downpour, the temperatures remain fairly warm. Although it is generally not advised to do the Everest Base Camp Trek during July because of the rain, it can still be done.
Among the few perks of trekking in July are the warm weather and the lush terrain that blooms with fresh vegetation. The con, however, is dealing with muddy trekking trails, the high humidity and unclear views of the peaks. The average daytime temperature during July can reach as high as 14 C while dropping to about 0.3 C at nighttime.
Everest Base Camp Weather and Temperature in August
The month of August is the end of the monsoon and the gateway to autumn. The day tends to get warmer as the rainfall decreases in the first weeks till mid-month. The latter half of August experiences a steady decrease in rain and temperature.

Occasional rainfall might occur during the first few days of September, but as the days progress, the rainfall gradually stops, with the fall overtaking the landscape.
The temperature in the daytime can vary from 18 to 24 C, while the nighttime temperatures drop to about 5 to 7 C. The alpine forests of northern Nepal gradually change color, and the weather becomes clearer, with mesmerizing mountain views seen from vantage points.
The best seasons for treks in Nepal, especially the Everest Base Camp Trek, are during the spring and autumn months. The spring season lasts from March to May, and the autumn season takes place from September to mid-December. They present the best weather, climatic and temperature conditions for trekking, with clear views and very little chance of precipitation or snowfall.
