The month of October is among the most suitable months for trekking to the Everest Base Camp. With clear skies and almost perfect weather, October presents the best conditions for trekking. Most of October is a conundrum of deep blue skies overhead with the cool breeze blowing through the troughs of the river valleys.

The average daytime temperature during October can reach as high as 14˚ to 15˚ C. When the skies clear away, giving way to strong sunshine, the temperatures can also reach about 20 to 21 C. At sundown, the temperatures can drop down to about -6˚ to -5˚ C. Cold mornings before sunrise can experience average temperatures of about -10˚ to -9˚ C in elevations above 4,000 meters. Also, October is when the celebration of the biggest festivals in Nepal- Dashain and Tihar, takes place.

The month of November presents the last remnants of autumn as the weather slowly starts to creep toward the frozen shimmers of winter. November also presents the best weather and climatic conditions for trekking.
The average temperature during November while trekking remains at a range of about 18 to 25 C during the day, while dropping down to about 7 to 8 C at nighttime. Much like in October, the clouds remain clear and the sun shines strongly during the day.

However, as the month wears on, the clouds do appear and the average temperatures start to drop. During the last days of the month, the average temperatures can drop down to about 12 C in the daytime. During November, the temperature can be generalized as such- every 1,000 meters of elevation gain can lead to a drop in about 2 C of temperature.

Mid-December is when the fall fully changes into winter. Despite that, the Everest Base Camp Trek during December is still a doable and preferred aspect. The initial few weeks of December are much like November, but the latter half of the month experiences below-zero temperatures.
One of the best perks, however, while trekking in December is that the precipitation chances are very low. This leads to clear views of the peaks despite the cold temperatures.
During the daytime, December generally experiences average daytime temperatures at around the range of 20 C, while it drops down to about -12 to -14 at nighttime.

The month of January is perhaps the most peaceful trekking month of all. Winter tends to be in full front in the mountains during January, with freezing temperatures. Yet the clear Mountain View because of the low rainfall makes the trip have perks despite the cold atmosphere.
Because of the low precipitation rate, the weather during January is generally dry and cold. Nevertheless, the weather does change dramatically with the rising and setting of the sun. During the day, the shining sun makes the terrain warmer, with average daytime temperatures ranging from around 4 to 6 C. At night-time, however, the temperatures drop down to extremes, ranging at about -17 to -20 C.

That is why Treks with pathways that cross mountain passes are not recommended during January. Neither are treks that involve the Himalayan lakes like Gokyo because the water bodies freeze over due to the cold temperatures.

The month of February is like a metaphorical doorway that leaves the winter behind and allows the metamorphosis to occur with the coming of spring. During this transformative month, the EBC Trek experiences some mixed weather and temperature conditions. A rather neutral month in terms of the weather and temperature, February experiences no high temperatures during the day with no extremely freezing temperatures at nighttime either, although they do remain rather cold.

One of the best advantages of trekking during February is that the month presents unparalleled views of the ivory mountain peaks. Due to the less amount of rainfall, the Himalayan sights are presented most spectacularly.
The daytime temperature during February in the mountains hovers at around a range of about -8 to 2 C during the day, with fluctuation. The nighttime temperature ranges from -0.6 to -05, varying from high to low altitudes.

The month of March is the beginning of spring, and with it comes the season of trekking in Nepal. The spring season starts to manifest in the landscape with March, with the woodlands and forests becoming alive again after the dreary slumbering of winter.
The temperatures also begin to rise and the skies become clear with the misty morning fogs dissipating to present amazing terrain views and the sights of the mountain peaks. The minimum temperature during the EBC Trek during March tends to be about -10 C, while the maximum temperature hovers at about 15 to 16 C during the daytime. In terms of the best trekking months, March is ideal.

Much like March, the month of April experiences full spring, with fantastic weather and moderate suitable temperatures for trekking. The minimum average daytime temperature during the Everest Base Camp Trek during April ranges from 20 to 22 C above the 4,000 meters elevation, while the temperature drops down to about 5 to 7 C at nighttime.
There isn’t much rainfall, with average precipitation ranging to about 20 mm at destinations like Namche Bazaar. With such ideal weather conditions, the number of trekkers visiting the region rises and often leads to overbooking of the tea houses and the Lukla Flight.

The month of May is the last month of spring in Nepal before the beginning of the monsoon. May weather in the Everest Himalayas and the Khumbu valley experiences the melting of ice and glacial sludge during the afternoons when the sun is shining the brightest as the daytime temperatures remain above the freezing point with hardly any rain.
Views of the peaks remain clear, but the late weeks of May start experiencing light rain showers, with the end of the month fully transitioning into the summer monsoons. The daytime temperature generally reaches as high as 15 to 17 C, with nighttime temperatures dropping to about 0 C. In general, May experiences a maximum of about 8 to 9 hours of sunlight, with bright and sunny days to perfectly enjoy the treks.

The month of June is the beginning of the monsoon season in Nepal. The warm teases of the summer started in the first few weeks of the month, with the mid-weeks becoming quite hot during the day. The average temperatures also become higher, and the days become humid with constant summer showers.
Daytime average temperatures during June at the Everest Base Camp Trek reach as high as 16 to 18 C while dropping down to about -1 C at nighttime. The downpour does tend to fluctuate the overall temperature though. In the Himalayas and the foothills of the peaks, the altitude also generally affects the annual rainfall pattern. The annual rainfall increases as the elevation increases, to a maximum elevation of about 3,000 meters. After this elevation, the rainfall then starts to decrease again.
Lower Himalayan foothills in the Khumbu experience more than 70 percent of annual precipitation. The pattern that generally follows is rainfall throughout the night, with the dawn bringing somewhat clear skies. However, this cannot be a determinant as the weather and rainfall patterns can change.

Mid-June and the entire month of July experienced the full wrath of constant thunderstorms and rain showers. However, despite the constant downpour, the temperatures remain fairly warm. Although it is generally not advised to do the Everest Base Camp Trek during July because of the rain, it can still be done.
Among the few perks of trekking in July are the warm weather and the lush terrain that blooms with fresh vegetation. The con, however, is dealing with muddy trekking trails, the high humidity and unclear views of the peaks. The average daytime temperature during July can reach as high as 14 C while dropping to about 0.3 C at nighttime.

The month of August is the end of the monsoon and the gateway to autumn. The day tends to get warmer as the rainfall decreases in the first weeks till mid-month. The latter half of August experiences a steady decrease in rain and temperature.
Throughout August, the daytime temperatures generally reach highs of around 16°C. At nighttime, the average minimum temperature tends to drop down to around 2°C. Occasional rainfall does occur though. The latter half of August is better for the Everest Base Camp hike compared to the first half of the month.

The month of September is the beginning of autumn in Nepal. The weather becomes pleasant and clear as the rain clouds post-monsoon dissipate. Occasional rainfall might occur during the first few days of September, but as the days progress, the rainfall gradually stops, with the fall overtaking the landscape.
The temperature in the daytime can vary from 18 to 24 C, while the nighttime temperatures drop to about 5 to 7 C. The alpine forests of northern Nepal gradually change color, and the weather becomes clearer, with mesmerizing mountain views seen from vantage points.

The spring season lasts from March to May, and the autumn season takes place from September to mid-December.
