The best time to visit Mount Kailash is from early May to late September. Because, first of all, the weather would be not harsh, and secondly it is the best time to do Kora.

The temperature in Kailash Mansarovar usually remains cool and pleasant. However, the weather in Kailash area remains unpredictable and may turn harsh at times.The temperature during summer season (May to June) ranges from 15°C to 20°C in the day and lows of around 5°C to 0°C at night and early in the morning. We can witness the famous Saga Dawa Festival in Tarboche in May or June every year.July to mid-August is the monsoon season in Kailash Mansarovar area. Being a deserted land, the rain showers in Kailash area do not last long and the land gets dried quickly. Many pilgrims prefer this season because it is the holy month of Shravana. The average temperature in Mount Kailash during this season ranges from 16°C to 22°C during the day and lows of around 6°C to 2°C at night and early in the morning.Mid-August to September is the post-monsoon season in Kailash Mansarovar area. These months are considered the best for Mount Kailash Kora as the crowd is comparatively less. The average temperature during the post-monsoon season ranges from 13°C to 18°C during the day and 4°C to 0°C during the night and early in the morning.

You need to have at least six months valid passport, a valid China visa (if you are coming from mainland china) and Tibet group visa (if you are coming from Katmandu which we will do in Kathmandu) and a Tibet travel permit.

To visit Mount Kailash you must get Tibet group visa from Katmandu because no matter you've already got the visa in your country or not, you must get a visa in Katmandu, which is regulated in an official memo between China and Nepal. Alpine Eco Trek Expedition (P) Ltd. will look after all the group visa in Kathmandu.

Step 1: After you book the tour from us, provide us your copy of passport.Step 2: We will apply the 'Visa Invitation Letter' from Tibet Tourism Bureau with your copy of passport and send it Kathmandu.Step 3: After your arrival in Katmandu, we will ask your original passport, and then we go to the Chinese Embassy to apply the Tibet group visa. With the 'Visa Invitation Letter', you can get your Tibet group visa easily. And, we need minimum 3 working days for the group visa that means we will have to arrive in Kathmandu at least 3 days before the trip departure.

Tibet Travel Permit is the official document that allow foreign traveler to enter Tibet. It is granted by the Tibet Tourism Bureau. Tibet Travel Permit sometimes is also called Tibet Entry Permit or TTB permit.

You need to apply for the travel permit at least 45 days prior to your entry date, which means you should prepare all the information and documents in hand before this period of time.
