Everest region trekking provides a great opportunity to have an exceptional experience in the Himalayas. Situated in eastern Nepal, this is the most popular trekking region in the Himalayas. The Everest region also known as the Khumbu region is protected as the Sagarmatha National Park by the government of Nepal and in 1979 it was nominated as a UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site. The park is serene of hardy terrain with deep gorges, glaciers and gigantic rocks. Spread over an area of 1148 sq km, the park is home to wildlife such as musk deer, Ghoral, Red panda, snow leopard, Himalayan Tar, and many other wild animals. Nepali National bird Impeyan Pheasant and other birds like the snowcock, the blood pheasant and the red-billed cough are also seen in the park.
