In Namche Bazaar, we are staying for two nights, it is very important for us to rest and get used to the change in climate and altitude.  On our rest day, we take a short hike up the Namche Bazaar towards the Everest View hotel.  Heading up towards the hotel, from this viewpoint, we have our first view of Mount Everest.

Hotel Everest View has been listed on the Guinness Book of world records as the highest-placed hotel in the world at 13000 feet or 3960 meters. Enjoy a cup of tea/coffee with the splendid view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam, feel like living in a postcard, truly spectacular.

After having proper acclimatization, we trek from Namche Bazaar towards Tengboche. Hiking towards Tengboche from Namche Bazaar, we have a superb view of the mountains surrounding us. The trail from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche is nice gradually up and down crossing several suspension bridges and passing through lush and refreshing Pine forests with splendid views of the mountains surrounding us.

Best Time for Everest Base Camp 10 Days

As many trekkers dream of conquering the short Everest Base Camp trek, careful planning should be done before undergoing such a challenge. One of these would be to find out what the best season for the Short Everest Base Camp Trek is. Alpine Eco Trek advises all trekkers to undergo this trek in Nepal during the autumn season (end September to late December) and during the spring season (March to mid-May).

During these seasons the mornings are clear and during the day the weather provides excellent trekking conditions to make the short Everest Base Camp Trek even more memorable.

Trek in Autumn/Fall

Autumn of fall will be ideal for clear mountain views. Although slightly colder than the spring season, the days are warm and the nights can get frosty cold with temperatures from minus 10 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius. Of course, this also depends on the elevation. For example the higher we go the colder it will get. Do you want more info about the autumn trekking season on Everest? Don’t hesitate and contact our Alpine Eco Trek team by E-mail.

Trek in the Spring Season

A bit warmer than the autumn season, spring is ideal for trekking in Nepal as the months of March to May are perfect for trekking in the Everest region. Mountain passes will be more accessible and due to the warmer temperatures, the trekking days become more enjoyable. As April to May is the peak season for climbing and summiting Mt Everest, the Base camp will be full of tents and mountaineers.  Do you want more info about the spring trekking season on Everest? Don’t hesitate and contact our Alpine Eco Trek team at our email.

Alpine Eco Trek does not recommend the trek to Everest Base Camp during the monsoon season, as most trails will be inaccessible and many flight delays towards Lukla airport will occur.

Accommodations During Short Everest Base Camp Trek

While trekking to Everest Base Camp, we make sure to use local Guesthouses also known as Teahouses. This provides sustainability to the local communities and increases your trekking experience. Keep in mind that these guesthouses are basic and not luxurious. The rooms are clean and simple and the dining areas are heated to get warm from the cold outdoors.

During the trek breakfast, lunch and dinner are included but you can also order separately from the menu as per your choice. Although that is not included. All the rooms are fitted with a standard Nepali bed, pillow, and blanket.

Alpine Eco Trek does recommend bringing a sleeping bag with you during the trek. These can be hired or even bought in Thamel. Bathrooms and toilets during the trek are public and shared with other guests, please do remember that we are trekking in a remote area and comfort is not always available here.

Food and Drinks on Short Everest Base Camp Trek

As mentioned above, during the trek breakfast, lunch and dinner are included. The guesthouses offer a variety of delicacies ranging from traditional Nepali rice with lentil soup, locally known as Dhal-Bhat, with some vegetables and a spicy pickle sauce to even pizzas.

Alpine Eco Trek does recommend not to order any type of meat during your trek especially at the higher elevations as the meat has a quick habit of causing stomach aces that will ruin your trekking experience.

For gluten-free eaters, we do recommend pre-packing some items to bring with you during the trek. Breakfast and dinner will be at the guesthouse and lunch will be packed and enjoyed along the way.

Drinking water can be bought throughout the trek. The price for a bottle of mineral water in Lukla costs you about RS 80 and the higher you go, the more expensive it gets, a bottle of mineral water in higher places like Lobuche and Gorakshep will cost you up to RS 300. We recommend you drink at least 4 liters in a day.

We also would like to recommend you get a steel reusable water bottle in Kathmandu or bring it from your home. Along the trail, the teahouses sell boiled warm water, here you can refill your bottle and it actually works out much cheaper than buying bottled water.

You can also use water purification tablets or buy a steripen. During the evenings, we would often order pots of hot water and drink that, you can also fill up your bottle with any remaining in the pot and it will still be good to drink the next day.

Everest Base Camp Short Trek Fitness

It is not necessary to have any previous trekking experience but we do advise when participating in Everest BC 10 days trek that leads above 5,000 meters or 16,404 feet to do some form of exercise at least 3 months before starting your trek.

Hiking, running or even gym fitness are recommended as pre-training for trekking in these high altitudes. Building up your stamina and practicing higher altitudes before heading to Everest will only work to your advantage and lessen the chance of fatigue or even AMS Acute Mountain Sickness.
