Kailash Helicopter Tour

Kailash Helicopter tour via Simikot 9 days package for 2023 and 2024,  a journey to the Mount Kailash area is truly an experience of a lifetime and we can facilitate your great spiritual adventure by arranging a trip customized to your special requirements.

However, we recognize that some of you would like to see Kailash and the holy lakes but may be hampered by time restraints. For these pilgrims, we have designed a special package that cuts the whole journey down to 9 days by using helicopter transport between Nepalgunj and Simikot and Hilsa.

Taking this version of the trip means that you can still enjoy the full Kailash and Lake Mansarovar experience in an unhurried manner. Laying in the peaceful and tranquil Trans-Himalayan landscapes of Tibet, Lake Mansarovar and Mt Kailash await your visit.

We have been operating tours to Mount Kailash including the Helicopter tours from Simikot for over 2 decades, organizing everything for your comfort during this pilgrimage tour around the sacred Mount Kailash.

Starting from Kathmandu, flying to Nepalgunj and to Simikot and then a Helicopter ride to the border – Hilsa with incredible views along the way, the holy journey starts from Taklakot and continues to the holy Lake Mansarovar.

While visiting Lake Mansarovar, Hindu Yatris would be able to take a holy dip in the lake and perform a ceremonial Puja with a Hindu Guru or priest. This is quite a spectacle and mesmerizing to witness. For Hindu Yatris from far abroad, it is also common to take some of Lake Mansarovar’s water with you back home for family and friends.

Meals and accommodations during this incredible Helicopter tour to Mt Kailash are provided by Alpine Eco Trek and as this is a Holy tour in Kailash, only pure vegetarian meals will be served prepared by our skilled chefs.

The tour continues until we reach the Holy Mountain said to be the home of the Hindu main deity Shiva. The tour is not completed here as the custom is to travel on foot 53km clockwise around Mt Kailash.

This is known in Hindu as doing KORA, and many devotees feel the spirituality coming from the holy Himalaya as they walk around it. During this holy Kora around Mt Kailash, overnights are very basic and arranged by our team and in the morning one of the most incredible sunrise views over Mt Kailash can be seen, naming that side of the holy Kailash officially as the Golden Face.

The sacred Kora around Mount Kailash is relatively easygoing with stunning Dolma la pass crossing, not to worry does less able on foot can always hire a pony or donkey ride Darchen to complete the holy Kora around Mt Kailash.

Altitude Sickness during the Journey

Altitude is a major factor in all of our Kailash tours. We often reach altitudes of over 5000m. This can have mild or severe effects on the body no matter what your level of health. Symptoms can include headache, dizziness, nausea, loss of appetite, and difficulty sleeping. The best way to prevent this is to stay extremely hydrated and conscious of how your body is functioning.

We also have rest days to help the body acclimatize. Diamox is a prescription altitude medication (consult your doctor) that can help prevent symptoms. We also carry oxygen tanks. Be sure each of you is traveling on your own risk. It’s recommended to have a file with your medical history on this type of trip with a recent medical report.

Physical Fitness

Although most of the trip will be done on vehicles and flights, it is important that clients be in relatively good health. The holy Kora around Kailash requires some demanding hiking and altitude can take a physical challenge on the body.

We suggest clients start an exercise routine prior to the trip that includes hiking or jogging for a least an hour 3-4 days a week. If you have any concerns about the physical demands of the trip feel free to contact us, please. If you have any chronic health problems please consult your doctor.

Accommodations during the trip

Twin sharing rooms (single rooms available for an additional cost) in a high-quality hotel in the heart of Katmandu while in Nepal. In Tibet, very simple guest houses with shared rooms and basic toilet facilities (in case of heavy rush and emergency we do use tented camp as well) will be your accommodation. Our staff will attend to all the camping responsibilities.

Food during the trip

All meals during the trip will be provided. Our staff will cook delicious vegetarian foods including soups, rice, noodles, bread, curry, dal (lentils), potatoes, pickles, porridge, tea, milk, and coffee.

Transportation during the trip

Private bus transportation or flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj, regular flight from Nepalgunj to Simikot, and then a Helicopter ride from Simikot to the border – Hilsa. From Hilsa, 4WD deluxe Vans, or Buses with trucks to carry personal and group gear will be on the Tibet site. During the trek, we provide yaks to carry your personal gear. Extra yak/horse and yak/horse man can be provided (for an additional cost at around USD 550 eas horse).

Permit-Visa and Documentation

Clients must have a current passport with at least 6 months of validity remaining. We will take care of all the Tibet visa and entry permit procedures, once we receive a copy of your passport and advance deposit.

Insurance

We recommend that all clients obtain proper medical and travel insurance prior to the trip. Make sure travel insurance includes emergency and rescue coverage.

Useful Information

Type of Helicopter

Depending on weather conditions and group size, we provide fixed-wing aircraft in between Nepalgunj and Simikot but in between Hilsa and Simikot, there is no alternative other than Helicopter. Helicopter accommodates 4 passengers at a time depending on the group size and baggage load by small helicopter OR carry 18 passengers at a time if MI – 17 Helicopter (big chopper) available.

We must land at Simikot for going through the immigration formalities of the Nepal government while going and coming back.

Weather Condition

The weather condition in the mountain (Simikot and Hilsa area) plays a vital role in this journey. So, due to the weather fact, the trip might be delayed to depart by one or two days in the beginning. Simultaneously, if the weather in between Simikot and Hilsa is bad, the Helicopter can not come to pick you up at Hilsa. In this case, you have to stay in Hilsa and our company bears accommodation and food for one extra night but in case it goes longer the group has to bear all the extra expenses. Only basic foods and accommodation is available in Hilsa. So, every passenger on this journey is advised to keep some spare days in the Yatra.

Simikot stay is an optional spare day program with a view to managing the safe and smooth operation of flight so it may be possible to remove or station as per the situation of weather and flight condition.

Extra Expenses

Extra expenses that may occur due to natural calamities not excluding, landslide, adverse weather conditions, Political sanction, road blockades, or whatsoever, which entails extra nights in a hotel or guest houses, additional Vehicles or porterage. Simikot Kailash Helicopter tour with courteous team of Alpine Eco Trek

Some of my friends, my wife and I had the great opportunity to go for the Holy trip to Mount Kailash with Alpine Eco Trek. The entire Alpine Eco Trek team was so cooperative and their service was excellent. All the travelers were greatly pleased with their hospitality. We did Kathmandu to Nepalgunj and then to Simikot by a regular flight. And, from Simikot we had a chopper ride to Hillsa, Mr. Ram, the owner of company did great job arranging the choppers. Our journey to the holy lake and the sacred mountain was on a deluxe bus, we enjoyed every minute of our journey, food was great and the courteous team of Alpine Eco was fantastic, so caring and familiar. We completed the holy Kora with the great of the help of them.
