Chomolhari Trekking Overview
Chomolhari trek is one of the challenging and thrilling treks in Bhutan and we are organizing this trek as a camping trek with a highly experienced team. Mt. Chomolhari (23,997′), the sacred abode of the goddess Chomo, stands as a mighty sentinel on Bhutan’s snow-capped Tibetan frontier, reigning over countless icy summits and deep, magical forests where Himalayan blue sheep and snow leopard roam.
This amazing trek is one of our favorites, bringing us through traditional hamlets, wild rhododendron forests, and alpine meadows to Jangothang, our spectacular camp right at the base of Chomolhari, with a return trek via the remote Yaksa Valley (Valley of Yaks).
The Bhutanese have long protected their natural surroundings and their mountains are truly pristine, with a wealth of flora and fauna unrivaled in the Himalayas. This is a rare chance to experience superb trekking in an enchanting realm.

Then walk down the trail to visit the Rinpung Dzong meaning “fortress of the heap of jewels". Next visit Kichu Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the country. From there we are taken to the Drugyal Dzong (Bhutan Victory Fort), which was built in 1646 to commemorate Bhutan's victory over Tibetan invaders during the 1600s.
