At Alpine Eco Trek, It is our great pride that we are capable to organize Mount Everest Expedition from the Nepal side.  Mount Everest, the name was named when Sir George Everest, the surveyor-general of India scaled the peak in1856. It was called Peak XV until 1856. The height measurement of the peak was done through the Great Trigonometrically Survey in 1850. Nepali name of Mt. Everest is ‘Sagarmatha’, meaning Sky Mother. However, the Tibetan people love to call it ‘Chomolungma‘, which refers to Mother Goddess of the Country.

There is a huge controversy regarding the exact height of Mount Everest. Andrew Waugh, the successor of George Everest had given its height 29,002ft (8842m.) Later, this height was increased to 29,028ft (8,848m) which is the universally accepted altitude. In 1999, the Boston Museum of Science GPS system attached to Bishop’s Ledge, the outcrop just below the summit, suggested a height of no more than 8,830m (28,970ft). Similarly, the National Geographic Society announced that the correct height of Everest was 8,850m (29,035ft). Let the geologists go on exploring the actual height of Everest; it is anyhow, the highest mountain in the world. It is reported that the mountain is rising a few millimeters each year due to geological forces.

Mt Everest Expedition has proved to be a benchmark of climbing achievement. The mountain receives around 1000 summit attempts every year. Everest can be climbed both from the southern side of Nepal and the northern side of Tibet. After the Cultural Revolution in the 1950s, China closed the Tibet borders to outsiders and Nepal began welcoming foreigners to the Everest Region. Since then the southern approach to the mountain via the Khumbu Valley became popular among climbers. Mt. Everest was first summitted in 1953 by Tenzing Norgay Sherpa and Edmund Hillary via the South Col. Climbing Mt. Everest is certainly a lifetime opportunity. However, Everest expeditions encounter many seen and unseen obstacles including high altitude, harsh weather conditions, and even sheer exhaustion. Therefore, we strive hard to conduct the best expedition program putting high importance on the safety aspects of the climb.

Note: The above information is just a guide and a standard pattern of what we provide. The trip can be tailored at your request to accommodate your specific requirements. On adventure trips of this type, weather, transport or a multitude of other factors beyond our control can result in a change of itinerary. It is, however, very unlikely that the itinerary would be substantially altered; if alterations are needed the person in charge will make a decision on what is the best alternative, taking into consideration the best interests of the whole group. Where a change does arise, we do everything we can to reduce its effect, but we cannot be liable for the results of changes or delays.
